Advice for Plebes & Parents
Try to get a passport prior to I-Day. You will need it if you get the opportunity to travel overseas! You can apply for one at your local post office.
There are at least six events you should plan to attend during the next four years:
1) I-Day
2) Plebe Parent's Weekend 8/12/10 – 8/15/10
3) Herndon Climb 5/24/10
4)
Army/Navy Football game 12/11/10 Philadelphia, PA
(Plebe parents can order tickets on I-Day)
5) Second Class Parent's weekend which is held during September of Second Class year
6) Commissioning Week

Bring a care package with you to I-Day and mail it in the Academy post office. Include some pictures from home. Mids have very little personal storage space so most of the food you send will be eaten immediately my the plebe and roommates.
At the end of Plebe summer, the plebes will be issued laptops and desk computers. They are NOT issued printers. Most Plebes share printers and you can buy them in the mid store on Plebe Parent's Weekend (PPW).
Plebes are not allowed to use computers during the summer so there will be no email or facebook. They may want to catch up on this over PPW so if you check to see if your hotel offers Internet access.
Encourage friends to send snail mail to the Plebe at this address:
MIDN XXXXX
Class of 2014
XXXX Company XXX Platoon
Annapolis, MD 21412
At the end of Plebe summer, the plebe will start receiving mail at a PO Box using a PO Box # they will be assigned over the summer.
UPS or Fedex is sent to an entirely different address:
Midn XXXX
Co # XXXX
Bancroft Express Office
101 Buchanan Rd
Annapolis, MD 21412
(410) 293-5001
Plebes are not issued ironing boards and many buy a half size ironing board during PPW. Wait until PPW to buy extra stuff for your Plebe. They won't know what extras they need/want until PPW.
